Hebei Normal University's School of Mathematical Sciences is actively recruiting talented individuals.
Hebei Normal University School of Mathematical Sciences is actively recruiting outstanding talents. Hebei Normal University is located in Shijiazhuang, the capital city of Hebei Province, with a history of over 120 years. In November 1998, the Department of Mathematics of Hebei Normal University, the Department of Mathematics of the original Hebei Normal College, and the Department of Mathematics of the original Hebei Education College merged to form the Department of Mathematics of Hebei Normal University. In January 2000, it merged with the Department of Computer Science to establish the School of Mathematics and Information Science. In April 2019, the Department of Computer Science separated from the School of Mathematics and Information Science, and in October 2019, the school was renamed the School of Mathematical Sciences.
The School of Mathematical Sciences was one of the first institutions in China to be granted master's degree authorization after the establishment of the degree system. In 1998, it was granted the authorization to confer Ph.D. degrees in basic mathematics. In 2006, it was granted authorization to confer Ph.D. degrees in applied mathematics and master's degrees in mathematics as a first-level discipline. In 2007, it established a postdoctoral research station in mathematics. In 2011, it was granted authorization to confer Ph.D. degrees in mathematics as a first-level discipline.
With strong support from the provincial government and education and technology authorities, the mathematics discipline was designated as a strong characteristic discipline of Hebei Province in 2005, included in the cultivation of national key disciplines of Hebei universities in 2013, and identified as a "Double First-Class" world-class discipline construction point in Hebei Province in 2016. It entered the B category in the fourth round of discipline assessment by the Ministry of Education, and achieved new breakthroughs in the fifth round of discipline assessment. The School of Mathematical Sciences currently has provincial research platforms such as the Hebei Provincial Basic Mathematics Basic Discipline Research Center, Hebei Applied Mathematics Center, Hebei Provincial Key Laboratory of Computational Mathematics and Applications, Hebei Provincial Collaborative Innovation Center for Digital Education, Hebei Provincial International Joint Research Center for Mathematics and Interdisciplinary Sciences, and Hebei Foreign Academician Workstation.
The School of Mathematical Sciences has a strong faculty, with 99 full-time teachers, including 32 professors and 36 associate professors (including 2 full-time foreign teachers). Ph.D. degree holders account for 82.82%, and teachers with overseas experience account for 36.4%. It has established characteristic research teams in operator algebras and operator theory, combinatorial mathematics, intelligent computing and applications, differential equations and dynamical systems, etc. The team includes a group of academic leaders, including those selected in high-level overseas talent programs, National Distinguished Young Scholars (Class B), National Outstanding Young Scholars, special experts of the State Council, Yan Zhao Scholars, New Century Excellent Talents from the Ministry of Education, and Hebei Provincial Distinguished Young Scholars. Since 2018, it has led 58 National Natural Science Foundation projects, including 1 key project, 1 key international (regional) cooperation and exchange project, and 1 National Excellent Young Scientist Foundation project. It has undertaken 43 provincial and ministerial-level projects and hosted 31 high-level international and national academic conferences. In terms of scientific research, the mathematics discipline has achieved several firsts for the university: it was the first to be awarded the National Natural Science Foundation Outstanding Young Scientist Fund project, the first to introduce overseas high-level talent program awardees, the first to introduce National Excellent Young Scientist Foundation project awardees, and it obtained the university's only national outstanding doctoral dissertation. It was also the first to be approved for the "Mathematics Innovation Talent Training Program" of the local cooperation project of the China Scholarship Council.
The School of Mathematical Sciences offers three undergraduate programs: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (national first-class undergraduate program), Applied Statistics (Hebei provincial first-class undergraduate program), and Data Computation and Application. It has nearly 1,600 undergraduate students and over 250 master's and doctoral students.
The School of Mathematical Sciences is committed to building a first-class discipline and first-class programs with international characteristics. It maintains active academic exchanges and cooperation with international peers, hosting international seminars every year and sending about 5-10 young and middle-aged academic backbone members for visits and exchanges at overseas academic institutions for over six months.
We sincerely look forward to your joining us!
