From August 27th to 30th, the 2023 Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Computational Mathematics+ Academic Exchange Conference was successfully held in Taiyuan City, Shanxi Province. The conference was organized by the Beijing Society for Computational Mathematics, the Tianjin Mathematical Society Computational Mathematics Branch, the Hebei Provincial Mathematical Society Computational Mathematics Branch, and the Shanxi Provincial Mathematical Society, and hosted by Shanxi University. Over 220 computational mathematics experts and scholars from the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, other parts of China, and abroad attended the conference. Thirteen representatives, including teachers and students from the Hebei Provincial Key Laboratory of Computational Mathematics and Applications, participated. Associate Professor Li, Jiyong was invited to give a plenary report, and Dr. Guo, Xueyan delivered a special report at the conference.
The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Computational Mathematics Academic Exchange Conference, as one of the initiating and founding members, has become an important platform for academic exchanges in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The 2023 conference marked the first collaboration with universities from surrounding provinces, expanding the platform for computational mathematics professionals. Professors Hu Jun from Peking University, Wu, Chunlin from Nankai University, and Liu, Xinwei from Hebei University of Technology served as co-chairs of the conference. Huang, Guitian, President of Shanxi University, attended and spoke at the opening ceremony.
Internationally renowned experts in numerical computation and analysis were invited to present at the conference. These included Professor Jie Shen, a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics from Purdue University, and Professor Tang, Huazhong, Vice President of Nanchang Hangkong University, recipient of the Feng Kang Prize in Scientific Computing, and Deputy Director of the Chinese Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Professors Zhou, Dongzhuo from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Jia, Xiaohong from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Hu, Guanghui from Nankai University, Li, Jiyong from Hebei Normal University, and Tian, Wenyi from Tianjin University gave invited reports. The conference featured sessions on computational fluid/radiative fluid dynamics, BeiTai Tianyuan community building, Huawei's applications in mathematics, machine learning, models and algorithms in dynamical equations, finite volume and related issues, optimization and image processing, finite element methods, complex problem modeling, interface problems, and time discretization. The conference also included the selection of "Outstanding Young Papers in Computational Mathematics of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei," with seven outstanding young doctoral papers awarded as "Best Paper" and "Excellent Paper."
The Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Computational Mathematics Academic Exchange Conference is an annual event organized by the computational mathematics branches of the Beijing Mathematical Society, Tianjin Mathematical Society, and Hebei Provincial Mathematical Society since 2016. The conference aims to respond to the central government's call for coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, providing scholars with opportunities for free discussion and exchange, thereby promoting the exchange, integration, and collaborative development of computational mathematics in these regions.
