On October 21-22, the School of Mathematical Sciences hosted the fifth seminar of the Ministry of Education's "Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Data Computation and Applications" in Zhengding, Shijiazhuang. The conference, themed "Curriculum Construction in Data Computation and Applications," was attended by prominent figures including Professor Fang, Xingui, former Dean of Academic Affairs at Peking University and advisor to the Mathematics Specialty Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, and Professor Wu, Quanshui, Director of the "Virtual Teaching and Research Office for Data Computation and Applications" and Vice Director of the Mathematics Specialty Teaching Guidance Committee, Fudan University. Core members like Professors Gao, Weiguo, Xu, Dinghua, Liu, Fuyao, Zhu Wei, Lian, Hairong, and Yang, Binxin also attended the opening ceremony. Additionally, over 60 experts and scholars from 27 universities including Peking University, Fudan University, Jilin University, China University of Geosciences, and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics participated in the conference.
Professor Liu Ying, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Hebei Normal University Committee and Vice President, welcomed the attendees. She introduced the university's achievements in mathematics and expressed hope for continued support for the development of the university's mathematics discipline. Professor Wu, Quanshui reviewed the themes of the previous four meetings during the opening ceremony and briefly explained the theme and arrangements for this meeting, aiming to promote in-depth discussions on the construction of the Data Computation and Applications specialty and further its development. The opening ceremony was chaired by Yuan, Liping, Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences.
Experts from Taiyuan University of Science and Technology, Shanghai University of Engineering Science, China University of Geosciences (Beijing), and Hebei Normal University shared their experiences in the construction of professional teaching materials and courses related to mathematical analysis, advanced algebra and spatial analytic geometry, data modeling, and the BeiTai Tianyuan Toolbox for Data Computation and Applications. Zhu Jin, an editor from Higher Education Press, delivered a report titled "Integrated Innovation to Support the Construction of First-class Mathematics Textbooks". Professor Li, Huilai from Jilin University shared insights on "Ideological and Political Elements in Mathematics Courses and Mathematics in Ideological and Political Courses," starting from various mathematical examples. Professors Yang, Jiazhong and Feng, Rongquan from Peking University shared their experiences in teaching mathematical analysis and abstract algebra.
Participants actively exchanged their experiences and challenges in building Data Computation and Applications programs at their respective institutions and delved deeply into discussions on the construction of professional content and textbooks, contributing valuable experiences to further advance the development of this specialty.
