School of Mathematical Sciences Holds the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Normal Mathematics Major Construction Seminar

To further advance the construction of the "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Normal Mathematics Major Virtual Teaching and Research Office," the School of Mathematical Sciences of Hebei Normal University hosted the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Normal Mathematics Major Construction Seminar in Zhengding on May 21st.
The meeting was attended by prominent figures such as Professor Fang, Xingui and Professor Feng, Rongquan from Peking University, Professor Wang, Kaishun from Beijing Normal University, Professor Gao, Hongcheng from Tianjin Normal University, Professor Liu, Xianglin from Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, and Associate Professor Tong, Cezhong from Hebei University of Technology. Deputy Director Shui, Xiaoxi of the Academic Affairs Office of Hebei Normal University, members of the School of Mathematical Sciences, department heads, teaching and research office directors, and teacher representatives from Tianjin Normal University, Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, and Hebei Normal University also participated.
The seminar was chaired by Professor Yuan, Liping, Dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of Hebei Normal University. Deputy Director Shui, Xiaoxi of the Academic Affairs Office of Hebei Normal University delivered a welcome speech. Professors Fang, Xingui, Wang, Kaishun, and Gao, Hongcheng also addressed the gathering. Keynote reports were presented by Professor Feng, Rongquan, Professor Wang, Kaishun, Professor Gao, Hongcheng, and Associate Professor Lu Ming of Hebei Normal University.
Professor Feng, Rongquan's report focused on the teaching of abstract algebra, covering various aspects including course goals, syllabus, introduction, group theory, ring theory, polynomial rings, ring isomorphism theorems, classroom organization, and ideological and political education in the curriculum.
Professor Wang, Kaishun reported on the tradition and development of the mathematics discipline at Beijing Normal University, including early education, promoting other disciplines, faculty development, talent cultivation, research, cultural heritage, academic exchange, and social service.
Professor Gao, Hongcheng shared insights on the faculty, discipline construction, professional development, and challenges faced by the School of Mathematical Sciences at Tianjin Normal University.
Associate Professor Lu Ming introduced Hebei Normal University's top mathematics talent cultivation, including historical development, distinguished alumni, faculty, main academic teams, research, professional development, top talent training, and training effectiveness.
The experts engaged in lively discussions on curriculum construction, teaching model reform, teaching method innovation, ideological and political education implementation, and talent cultivation models, creating an active atmosphere at the seminar.
In his concluding remarks, Professor Yuan, Liping thanked the experts for their participation and guidance, noting that the seminar was a high-quality teaching and research exchange and played a significant role in advancing the construction of normal mathematics majors in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region.
Note: The "Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Normal Mathematics Major Construction Teaching and Research Office" was established in September 2021. Based on the national first-class undergraduate major of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at Hebei Normal University, it comprises young and middle-aged frontline teachers from Hebei Normal University, Beijing Normal University, and Tianjin Normal University. The team, with strong management capabilities and an international perspective, consists of 21 full-time teachers, including 16 professors, 5 associate professors, 2 national distinguished experts, 2 recipients of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, 1 recipient of the National Natural Science Foundation Overseas Joint Fund, 1 recipient of the Ministry of Education's New Century Excellent Talents, 2 Hebei Province teaching masters, and 1 full-time foreign teacher. All members hold doctoral degrees and include 5 college deans, 2 department heads, and 5 teaching and research office directors.
